How do I know which IV therapy is best for me?
We offer a consultation during which your practitioner will assess your wellness needs or goals and match up the best IV for your personal requirements. If you would like to discuss your options before making an appointment, a member of our expert medical team can discuss this with you via telephone. You can call your local clinic to arrange a phone consultation. Please note all final consultations must be carried out to assess your medical history and ensure the highest level of safety is maintained.
What does an IV therapy involve?
It's where an infusion or formulation of fluids and nutrients is delivered directly to the bloodstream using a cannula. This method means we can get up to 100% absorption of the vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.
How do I amend my appointment?
Please contact your chosen REVIV clinic at the earliest possibility to amend any details of your appointment.
Can I have an IV therapy if I’m pregnant?
No. Our IV therapies are not suitable for pregnant women or during breastfeeding.
Can my teenager have an IV therapy?
Our IV therapies are only suitable for over 18s.
What should I do before my IV therapy appointment?
It is a good idea to have something light to eat before receiving an IV drip, in order to minimize any potential side effects. It's also important to drink plenty water in the lead up to your appointment, to ease access to your blood vessels.
Can I have my therapy in private?
Most REVIV clinics offer a dedicated private room service, where you can sit and relax for the duration of your therapy. This is a complimentary service, usually on a first-come-first-served basis. Do contact your local REVIV clinic prior to your appointment to ensure availability. Alternatively, we offer a call-out service that can be arranged with a fee.
Will it hurt?
Your clinical practitioner will recommend applying a localized numbing spray. This will minimize any discomfort from the cannula needle being inserted. Our practitioners are fully trained and experienced in making sure your appointment is as comfortable as possible.
What should I do after my appointment?
Your practitioner will give you after care instructions to follow at home. These will recommend that you:
Leave your bandage on for at least 15 minutes after your treatment.
Change your bandage if there is a small amount of bleeding at the puncture site.
Keep the puncture site area clean and dry after you remove your bandage.
Avoid showering, bathing or exposing the puncture site to water for at least 1 hour after your treatment.
Avoid strenuous activity or stressing the puncture site for 24 hours after your treatment.
Are there any side effects?
Any medical intervention has potential side effects, and REVIV’s therapies are no exception. Side effects are rare but our medical professionals, within the clinic, are trained to respond quickly and effectively should any problems arise.
What are the possible risks and complications of IV therapy?
As with any invasive medical therapy risks and complications can include:
Pain at the puncture site.
Bruising of the skin.
Infection.
Allergic reaction to any of the ingredients from the procedure preparation or the treatment.
Failure to successfully place IV catheter in the vein.
Puncture of the wall of the vein requiring the use of a different site for IV.
Self-resolving blood clot in the superficial vein.
Infiltration – fluid and ingredient leakage through the wall of a vein into the surrounding skin, which will reabsorb. Contact us or seek medical care if:
You develop any loss of sensation or numbness around the procedure area or in the arms where the procedure was performed.
You develop repeated or worsening swelling at the puncture site.
There is bleeding from the puncture area that will not stop.
A large bruise develops around the puncture site.
Bleeding from the puncture site develops and will not stop even after pressure is applied for 15 minutes.
Redness or red streaking develops around the procedure site.
You develop shortness of breath, rash, itching sensation, swelling of your lips, tongue, throat or other signs of an allergic reaction.
You develop a fever.
How soon will I notice the effects of my IV therapy?
The effects depend on your own personal physical and health status. You may feel the effects the next day or it may take a course of IVs before you notice or feel any effects.
How often can I have an IV therapy?
This depends on your individual circumstances, goals and past medical history, which can play an important role in the decision. For maintaining optimum levels of vitamins, minerals and nutrients, IVs are recommended every 6-8 weeks. For a specific target, these might be recommended once or twice weekly, or weekly for a short period of time. There’s no harm in having frequent IV therapies if guided correctly by your practitioner.
Can I have two different IVs at the same appointment?
Yes. Ask your practitioner about which IVs work well together.
Can I have a vitamin shot at the same time as an IV?
Yes. Our vitamin shots complement our IV drip therapies. Ask your practitioner about this at your next appointment.
